I am a Landscape photographer based on the Gold Coast, Queensland. My technical background and day job is as a Chemical Engineer within the resources industry, however my passion is photography.

My interest in photography began in 1996. I was due to go overseas on a work related trip and my wife, Nicole decided that she wanted a “good” camera, duty free. After much deliberation a decision was made to purchase a Canon EOS 500 with a 28-80mm lens. Over the next few years another lens was purchased and then finally another camera body. My camera bag continued to expand as extra lenses and accessories were added. In 2000 disaster struck and I had my entire photographic kit stolen from a hire car in Perth and I learnt a very valuable lesson about insurance, or lack of it!

By 2005 I had replaced the majority of my stolen kit, and took my first step into the new digital world with an 8MP Canon EOS 30D. By 2009 my interest in photography was building again and I purchased a Canon EOS 5D Mark II with a 22 megapixel full frame sensor. This finally allowed me the opportunity to return to landscape photography with the quality that was lacking in the early digital cameras. In early 2016 I purchased my current body, a 50MP Canon EOS 5DsR which allows for very detailed and large prints from just a single image. My current photographic kit comprises two bodies, seven lenses, three flashes, tripod, numerous filters, and a host of other little gadgets that seem to weigh more each year.

While I enjoy all styles of photography, photographing landscapes, is what really inspires me. I like nothing more than to capture beautiful images of my local surroundings, or other places that I visit and bring them to life as a large print. I try to keep the digital manipulation of my images to a minimum and present them as you would find them. For me it is a very satisfying process and I hope you enjoy viewing the images in my Gallery as much as I enjoy making them.
